EVO One; after remote start vehicle will not shut down

0 votes
I've installed two of these, within a month of each other. Both installs went smoothly. However, this last one is a 2007 Expedition.

I can start it with the fob w/3x Lock, and kill it with the 3x Lock. But it is letting me drive the vehicle without the key and will not shut off with by pushing the brake, or with the key. After the full run time, it stops like normal. I have not tried driving it for 15 minutes, as i'm afraid it will shut down while driving.

A1-A11 are active.

Are you sure your brake switch is working properly ? Have someone look at the back of vehicle when pressing the brake if the lights turn on.

Yup, brakes are working, lights are working.

One thing that was different on this install. When I was hooked up to the Flash Installer, when I toggled from Remote Start to Bypass mode, I had to disconnect the unit for it to recognize it again. Last install, I was able to toggle without any issues.

If brake status through can bus is not working the simplest solution is to hardwire the brake wire from the evo to the vehicle.

I have seen this the odd time specifically on 07 fords.

You always should disconnect the module when toggling between modes.

This will go away when the new flash link is released.
Awesome, they should put that in a manual... lol
How exactly do you drive a "key" vehicle "without" a key? The steering wheel should be locked.
Most newer Fords do not lock the steering wheel. I learned this after an accident damaged the steering column on my 2012 Fusion, and after it was repaired, I wondered why it wouldn't lock. Turns out it never did, and I was able to confirm in several other Ford vehicles of the vintage that they, as well, do not lock when you remove the key.
