Wire color discrepancy for 2011 Camry PTS, Gas.

0 votes

I'm working with a customer who has a 2011 Camry, Push Start, non-hybrid.   He's doing an EVO-ALL Stand Alone.

We are using Guide 8551, rev 20130605.  According to the customer, the CAN LOW wire in Pin 14 is grey/white - not white as called out in the doc.   He also has two other discrepancies:

  • There is no wire on Pin 16.  That itself is not a problem because we're using Data-Link, but it is cause for concern as to whether the general info is accurate or not.
  • He also has a different color iginition wire.

I saw another post from a user who also stated he had wire color discrepanices, but the thread dead-ended.

Are these discrepancies common?

Is it safe for the customer to make that CAN LOW connection at Pin 14 even though the wire color in the vehicle is white & grey?

Thanks-

12v at pin 16 is a standard for OBD and is the same for all vehicle. OBD is the ONLY connector in our guide that is shown front view. This the connector side, not the wire side. The can wires are ALWAYS twistes together so I'd say open the tape on the obd harness a little further and look for twisted pair, this is CAN.

it's hard to see correctly, but the connector picture below is the OBD-II connector in that vehicle. Can wires are white and black. (ignore the the 125 dot, thats the tach signal), it does not seem from the picture, that a 12v constant is present there or maybe it's just a different color..

wish i had a picture for the ignition but i don't. The connection is used for ignition sensing only.
