Parking Lights not working 2015 push to start Sonata when headlights set to Auto

I saw a similar question for the same model of my car, but my scenario is different.  I have the green/red (A18) of the EVO ONE connected to the blue/orange wire (Pin 11) of the connector on my steering column.  I have a 1.5k ohm resistor in-line on the green/red from the EVO ONE before connecting to the blue/orange on my car.

My problem is that if my headlights are set to Auto, the parking lights do not come on during the day after remote starting.  If I turn my headlights to a non-Auto mode, the parking lights will come on after the remote start regardless of ambient light.  Is this expected behavior?  I'd rather the parking lights would come on regardless of ambient light so I can tell if my car is started from a distance.

Do not install a resistor inline, the output of the module is NOT a ground.

Where is the resistor supposed to go?  I used the resistor in response to reading this separate question:  http://wirecolor.com/en/qa/57763/parking-lights-not-working-on-3x-remote-start-2015-sonata-push-to-start-evo-one

Does it go in position 1, 2, or 3?

You kind of answered your own question, on the auto position, the vehicle looks at the available ambient light and controls whether or not to illuminate the exterior lights. So in the daytime, the ambient light sensor on your dashboard or rear view mirror measures outside light and decides what to do.

2 Solution:

1. Do not leave your light switch on Auto, this would be the easiest way to fix your issue.

2. You will need to locate the positive parking light wires and using a relay and 2 diodes.

I would assume that 99% of people leave there headlights in the auto position if their car supports it, so I guess I would assume that standard instructions on how to get the parking lights working would take that into account.
The resistor is inside the module and will adjust depending on the position of the switch. Follow the guide and connect the green/red to the parking light wire and test if it works at all positions.
Thanks Mathieu, I removed the resistor and the parking lights work as expected now.  During the day, they turn on now with the 3rd lock press and then when the brake is pressed for the first time, they either remain on if there isn't enough ambient light, or they turn off if there is.  Appreciate everyone's help.

Just curious, was there a hardware/software update since September 2015 that would have addressed the need for a resistor?  I had read on another Q&A on this site for my same model that one was needed, and also read the same this somewhere else.
