RF642 / Evo-One FAIL Pairing

0 votes
Hey All,

I'm installing a 642W RFKIT in my subaru Crosstrek, 2019, along with the evo-one module and i can't get the remote to pair with the evo-one module. i enter the programming menu by IG On, off, on, then 4 brake pedals, then hit the (-) key then lock on the RF remote and NOTHING happens, just a red led on the remote timing out. it does this with both remotes. The LED on the evo-one is blinking rapidly but the LED on the antenna does nothing, only blinks once when you plug it in.

i have performed a master reset of the unit using the valet button, i can get in and out of valet mode, all the connections are verified per the install guide.

1.) I've seen numerous others have this issue but no resolution?

2.) What options do i need enabled in the flash link software? AND HOW DO I GET TO THE UNIT OPTIONS? The ability is greyed out?

Thanks,

No rf options needed with fortin remotes on the evo-one.

As long as evo is flashing red rapid, you're in remote programming. The antenna not flashing though... Antenna should be in BLUE connector. And, check the cable if it's already routed through the pillar in case it got squished somewhere.

Hey Robb,

thanks for the tip, i'll check the cable routing to the evo one unit. i do have the blue connector of the antenna cable plugged in to the blue port on the evo one unit, right next to the can bus input port. I can get the EVO module to rapidly blink the red led by the yellow loop wire but the antenna light never illuminates.

Weird thing is, the LED on the antenna NEVER lights up other than that very first initial blink when you plug the cable into the evo one module.

All the other options and connections work, if i set the module to use 3x oem remote lock remote start, the vehicle starts and the take over works fine.

Do i have a defective antenna? it seems that the antenna is getting no signal from the FOBs.

that's normal since it;s not paired yet. It should be flashing rapidly though at the end just like on the evo-one.

Check the cable. Pull it out.

Hey Robb,

Just wanted to throw out an update: I returned the RF kit after checking the cable and the antenna itself, deemed defective. I ordered the RFK942 kit and the module still would not program or recognize the RF antenna.

I ordered a new EVO-ONE module, reflashed it, and it worked with the RF kit. So the evo-one module was defective... so frustrating.

all is good now
